PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF I / MONTEREY DISTRICT / BIG SUR SECTOR

The Park Maintenance Chief I (PMC I) will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief III. This position will be responsible for the oversight of the facilities maintenance, equipment operation, drinking water systems, wastewater treatment plant, and other duties in the Big Sur sector. This position has supervisory responsibility for all permanent and seasonal Maintenance staff assigned to the sector. The primary reporting location is Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park but the position may be required to work at other locations throughout the sector as assigned and based on operational need. Big Sur sector state parks include Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, and Point Sur Light Station State Historic Park and more! Training and development assignments may be considered.The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position requires a valid class C driver’s license and a clean driving history. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. This is a uniformed position, and the employee must comply with all applicable Departmental uniform and grooming standards.This position is designated as not telework eligible.
State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
