Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Landscape Mason is responsible for performing skilled masonry and hardscape construction work on outdoor residential and commercial landscapes. This includes building and installing stone, brick, concrete, and paver structures such as walls, walkways, patios, steps, and other outdoor architectural elements that meet project design specifications and quality standards. This role supports Imperial Landscaping & Masonry’s goal of delivering durable, safe, and aesthetically exceptional outdoor spaces.

ABOUT IMPERIAL LANDSCAPING

Our founder, Lyle, was born and raised in Brazil. After moving to the US at the age of 12, he soon started working with landscaping and masonry companies across Cape Cod, learning the fundamentals of outdoor design and maintenance services. With his years of experience, he decided to start Imperial Landscaping and Masonry at age 23, alongside his dad and one additional employee. Since then, the company has grown exponentially to better serve Cape residents, but Imperial Landscaping and Masonry will always stay rooted in integrity, trust, and dependable craftsmanship.

OBJECTIVES

  • Execute masonry and hardscape projects safely, on time, and to design specifications.
  • Ensure structures are level, plumb, and built for long-term durability.
  • Maintain clean, organized job sites and tools.
  • Collaborate with crew members to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Uphold Imperial Landscaping & Masonry’s standards for craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Interpret project plans, blueprints, and layout drawings accurately.
  • Prepare job sites, including layout, alignment, and material staging.
  • Mix mortar, grout, and concrete as needed, following best practices.
  • Build and install hardscape elements such as retaining walls, patios, stone steps, walkways, veneer work, and other masonry features.
  • Cut, shape, and place materials (brick, block, stone, pavers) with precision.
  • Align and level structures during installation using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Perform cleanup, finishing, and quality checks on completed work.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and support a hazard-free work environment.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong proficiency in masonry techniques including stone and brick laying, mixing mortar, and finishing surfaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Understanding of hardscape materials and best installation practices
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials, kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods.Strong communication skills with crew members and supervisors
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor on client sites.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of masonry or landscape hardscape experience, including stone and paver installation preferred, with exceptions for candidates demonstrating strong work ethic and transferable skills.
  • Formal vocational training or masonry apprenticeship is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • OSHA or construction safety certification a plus
