We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Physician to provide exceptional, patient-centered medical care in a fast-paced emergency department setting located in Gallup, NM 87301 . The physician will deliver comprehensive emergency medical services, including rapid assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illnesses, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening conditions. This role emphasizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and adherence to the highest standards of emergency medicine and patient safety.
Provide prompt medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting with a wide range of emergency and urgent medical conditions.
Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and focused assessments for high-acuity and low-acuity patients.
Stabilize and manage critically ill or injured patients, including airway management, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and trauma resuscitation.
Order, interpret, and act upon laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and determine appropriate disposition, including admission, transfer, or discharge.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis.
Provide thorough discharge instructions, follow-up recommendations, and return precautions.
Deliver culturally sensitive and patient-centered care in high-stress and time-sensitive situations.
Work closely with Physician Assistants, nursing staff, EMS personnel, and consulting specialists to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review activities.
Serve as a clinical leader and resource for evidence-based emergency medicine practices within the department.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and federal healthcare standards.
Participate in continuing medical education (CME), credentialing, and ongoing professional development.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
Active, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of New Mexico.
DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances.
Strong clinical judgment, procedural expertise, and leadership skills.
Experience in high-volume or high-acuity emergency department settings.
Advanced certification in ACLS, ATLS, and PALS.
Proficiency in emergency procedures, including airway management, central line placement, ultrasound-guided procedures, and trauma care.
Familiarity with EHR systems and emergency department workflows.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in critical and time-sensitive situations.
