OBJECTIVE:

 

To implement a quality care program for children while guiding, educating and nurturing children in compliance with Day Care regulations published by the Department of Public Welfare.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the implementation of daily activities under the guidance of the Director or Group Supervisor and in coordination with Assistant Group Supervisor team.
  2. Coordinate daily activities and supervise aides in the absence of the Director and Group Supervisor.
  3. Ensure the confidentiality and protection of children’s rights, dignity, privacy, individuality and self-determination.
  4. Immediately report any incident/accident involving child care staff and/or children to Director or Group Supervisor, including any allegations or suspicions of abuse involving staff, volunteers and the children.
  5. Properly handle, administer and record any medications taken by the children under supervision of Director or Group Supervisor.
  6. Conduct daily safety checks of indoor/outdoor environment.
  7. Must remain flexible in work schedule as staffing levels fluctuate and center’s population increases or decreases.
  8. Assist with Open Houses, holiday programs, preschool graduation and other special programs.
  9. Participate in paid staff meetings, appropriate in-services, training and continuing education programs.
  10. Assist Director and Group Supervisors in completing assessments 3x per year.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must meet standards as set forth in 3270.36 of PA Dept of Public Welfare, Child Day care Centers Manual.
  • Must have the ability to teach and guide children. 
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

Special Requirements:

  • Genuine commitment to children.
  • Good hearing, speech and vision.
  • Willingness to be potentially exposed to communicable diseases, as well as any and all behaviors that can be demonstrated by children.
  • Must have Act 33, Act 34, FBI background clearances, and Sex Offender Registry (NSOAR).
  • High energy
  • Humor
