Job Title: Armed Security Supervisor (Low Barrier Shelter Operations) Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly professional Security Supervisor to oversee daily security operations within a shelter environment. This role is responsible for supervising security staff, managing two access control points, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and controlled environment for clients, staff, and visitors. The Security Supervisor will play a critical leadership role, emphasizing de??'escalation, professionalism, and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Security Operations & Access Control - Supervise and manage two access control points , including:
- Walk??'through metal detectors
- X??'ray screening equipment
- Monitor on??'site security equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance
- Enforce facility access policies and emergency protocols
- Conduct regular security assessments and equipment checks
- The position is considered essential personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster
Leadership & Supervision - Provide direct supervision to assigned security personnel
- Performance manage team members, including coaching, corrective action, and evaluations
- Prepare and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times
- Serve as the on??'duty security authority and escalation point
De??'Escalation & Shelter Environment - Apply de??'escalation techniques to resolve conflicts involving shelter residents or visitors
- Maintain a calm, trauma??'informed, and respectful security presence
- Collaborate with shelter staff and leadership to support a safe client??'centered environment
Reporting & Administration - Complete accurate and timely incident, shift, and investigative reports
- Maintain documentation related to staff training, licensing, and performance
- Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance reviews as required
- Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office
Training & Development - Conduct on??'the??'job training for security personnel
- Ensure all staff are trained on access control procedures, equipment use, and de??'escalation practices
- Reinforce policies related to use of force, safety, and professionalism
Required Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of prior supervisory experience in security or law enforcement
- Active Armed Security Guard License – State of Louisiana (Required)
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Metal detectors and X??'ray screening systems
- Access control operations
- Documented de??'escalation training and practical application
- Strong leadership and performance management skills
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Professional demeanor with the ability to work in a high??'stress, high??'visibility environment
Preferred Qualifications - Crisis Prevention Training
- Prior experience in a shelter, healthcare, corrections or social services security setting
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Instructor or trainer experience
Physical & Work Requirements - Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies
- Must be able to operate screening equipment and standard security tools
- Must pass background check, licensing verification, and drug screening as required by law
